Maggie

Here are some pictures of Maggie. She is doing well. She finally has decided that eating is a good thing. She is now five pounds and we are adjusting pretty well. I think it has dawned on Abby that this thing is not going away. She tries to sit on her and all that fun stuff.

Unpredictable

When I have more time will write out the long version of the story. Right now I will give the fastest version. 3 weeks ago our adoption agency called and said that our birth mom was pregnant and wanted us to take the next one. Miracles happened and she was born on Nov. 18th and was premature. Her name is Maggie and she is in the NICU and will be there for a little bit. Like I said I will put the long version in later.

Halloween

Here is Zack and Abby in their costumes. She was so cute in her tiger costume and Zack was so excited for the trick or treating. He had such a good time with his cousins.
We really had a good time at Halloween with all the cousins. It was a little wet but that didn't stop us. We had lions, and tigers, but no bears. We should have thought through that one. Woody and Jesse came along with Iron man, Spider man, a Jedi knight, and butterflies, and cats. It was a lot of fun.

Abby's sister

Just a quick note. Our birthmom is pregnant again and wants us to take the baby. It is another little girl and she is due on December 15th. She and Abby would be 11 and a half months apart if they get to the due date. We are so blessed to have wonderful family. My mom has offered to loan us the agency fee and we are trying to come up with about 6,000 more for the medical and legal fees. Please keep us in your prayers. We feel like the Lord has put this right in our laps and we need to take the opportunity. And if any of you out there know any people that would donate to our cause please let them and us know. I know that the Lord will make this all work I just don't know how yet. I guess that is the biggest part about faith. We just have to keep working having faith that it will all work out.

Nothing is Safe!

Well last week because I said Abby couldn't crawl yet she must have heard my thoughts because the very next day she took off. I guess next time I don't want my child to do something I will keep my thoughts to myself. The boys think it's funny to put treats around the house on the floor and watch her crawl to each one. Well now she thinks everything on the floor is edible. Who knows what she has eaten this past week. Everything is fair game to her now.

Side note: I have my christmas shopping done for the kids. I found great deals at Shopko and got it done. Now all I have to worry about getting our families and Brad done. Yipeee!

Wright Happenings

In her walker with her helmet on to make sure she doesn't get hurt. Zack took the picture
Zack's first day of school.
I have kept everyone in the know on Abby and have neglected the rest of the family so here is an update.
Brad: He is working 50 hours a week and going to school. His company just got a huge project and we are very excited about it. His classes haven't been to bad this semester. We are both really enjoying his materials management class because it is a pretty easy class. He has also found time to go bird hunting and to a BYU game.
Becca: I have been busy teaching preschool, walking Zack to and from school, and doing all the other running around that moms do.
Zack: Started Kindergarten. The only thing I ever here about school is recess. I guess that is the only important part. He has made a lot of new friends,(many of them are girls) and he is really liking his teacher. He is also reading books every night. His teacher sends home books as well as the school sending home a book every night. It is fun to here him read. He is pretty smart and I am proud of all the work he is doing. He likes to read to Abby but she just wants to eat the books.
Abby: She is still trying to figure out the crawling thing(I'm glad it is taking time). She likes to attack us if we are sitting near her. She has figured out how to get her walker to pretty much anywhere she wants. My toes are bruised from her running over them. She is still a happy little thing.
So that is some basics on all of us. We are busy and enjoying life.

Abby's Sealing

So the sealing and blessing were wonderful and we are so grateful for all of our family and friends that have supported us through the whole thing. Abby's dress was gorgeous and the whole two days were a special time for us. Abby's dress was made by my aunt Lynette and she used some of the material from my grandma's wedding dress. As you can tell my thoughts are all over the place. I will have to write more about it but I did want to get a picture or two on here.

Officially Ours

Well Abby is officially ours. We met with the judge this afternoon. It was a neat experience. The judge was very friendly and visited with us afterward for a few minutes. He talked about his own children which was kind of fun to hear. All in all it was a great day for our family. We are having Abby sealed to us On Sept. 18th. I look forward to next weekend. I can't wait for it to happen. I know that Zack is so excited to go the temple he can hardly sleep at night. Thank you to all of you for your support.

Court Date

Just so everyone knows we are going to court to finalize Abby's adoption on Sept 10. We are planning to have her sealed to us on Sept 18th in the evening. We will then bless her the next morning in church. Finally all this stuff will be done and we can move on.

Corn Rolls

So Last night my cousin Alyssa put Abby's hair in corn rolls. She sat semi okay so they weren't super tight and her hair is pretty long but not quite long enough so they didn't stay in very well. It was fun to see how long her hair has gotten though. By the time we got home the one had come apart so we had to hurry and take pictures. I will have to get some other pics from my aunt's camera. They got the pictures as soon as she was done. It was a fun experience all the way around.

Birthdays

So I managed to get through another birthday. There wasn't much to it. Abby slept and Zack went and played at his cousins. I read a book and then we went out for dinner. We came home and watched wipe out. It really was a lot like every day at our house. I didn't mind though. I would rather have it calm then crazy.

Those of you that are curious. We talked to our lawyer and she told us that all of our paper work is in and fine we are just waiting for the judge to schedule the finalization. He was on vacation and so he is behind in everything. We will get a court date soon. We hope.

Sweat'n to the Oldies

I had to put this one on. I love the outfit and with the head band she looks like Richard Simmons in his Sweat'n to the Oldies. The entire pose is like his pose on the exercise videos.

Zack's Birthday

Zack turned 5 yesterday and we had a weekend full of parties and fun. On Saturday we had a friend party and Zack's aunt let us borrow all of her fun water stuff. The kids had a great time and Zack got some fun toys. He has tried everything out and switches back and forth all day long. We must have worn him out because he fell asleep around 6:30 and didn't get up until 4 in the morning for a drink of water. Then he went back to sleep until the morning. Yesterday he couldn't wait to open his presents so before church he opened his roller blades. He wanted to wear them to church. I said no so he spent the afternoon rollerblading around the house and the outside. We also had all the family over for cake. Zack chose to have Mississippi Mud for his cake and it was good. It was fun to visit with all the different family members and are so glad that we have such supportive families. He once again was worn out and went right to sleep last night. I think I need to have more of those type of days when he is so worn out. I wish they didn't wear me out too. I will post pictures tomorrow when I get them off the camera.

The Alien's who Came to the 4th of July

We didn't realize that when the Texas relatives came to town that we would also be inviting aliens to the 4th of July. It was cold as we did fireworks so everyone was bundled up in blankets or whatever they could find. Above is my Uncle Paul keeping the cold off of his neck. Also my nephew Coleman borrowed Zack's jacket and some old sweats that were found in my mom's cedar chest. Zack and his Cousin Lexie weren't so sure who he was. We had fun all the way around. There was a lot of laughter and jokes. I don't remember ever being cold on the 4th but it was a little chilly.

Roll Over!

So Abby has been rolling over from her tummy to her back for awhile now but just hasn't gotten the other direction down. She has been really close. She just can's seem to figure out where to put her arm. So last night my sister Raquel was laying on the floor above Abby's head and Abby was determined to get to Aunt Raquel. She flipped over all the way and we all cheered. She was so excited that she didn't stay that way she flipped back and smiled and gooed and laughed. I think in our excitement we startled her back over but she did do it again a couple of times so I think she has gotten it figured out. Of course she can't do it at home. We are actually at my parent's house this weekend so I guess their house is magic.
Brad is helping my dad put in new windows and siding. We will see how much can get done in a weekend. Also my Aunt and Uncle from Texas are coming to town so we are going to BBQ with them on Sunday. It should be a busy weekend.
Zack is having a great time already. He has my sister Paula and by brother Brandon to himself and of course he has Grandpa. He had them all downstairs watching cartoons with him. Pretty funny, because he came upstairs at one point and they were all still watching downstairs. Who says that cartoons are only for kids. Well that is what is happening in our life. We are going to enjoy the 4th of July and hopefully I will get some good pictures.

Time Flies By

Well since school got out I am rarely around a computer. So I haven't updated anything. Right now I am learning how to make a podcast. So I am going to try to get one together about the kids and upload it to here. It may take a few days. New adventures that is for sure.
Now about the kids:
Zack is enjoying his summer now that the sun has finally come out for a few days. If it is a little warm then he thinks he should be playing in the water. He wears his swimming suit at least once every day. He is excited to be going to Kindergarten soon. While he waits he digs in the dirt searching for worms. He checks the garden every day to see if anything is ready yet. Of course there isn't. He is just loving being a kid.
Abby is getting bigger all the time. She is sitting up for short periods of time now and if you lay down next to her she attacks. She is enjoying food so much that if she sees us eating she throws a royal fit until she gets something. She is a smarty pants that is for sure. We are just waiting to hear from the lawyer about her court date so we can get things finalized.
We had a great time with our family in Goblin Valley at the end of May and Zack is counting the days until he can go to the Lehi rodeo. He looks forward to that all year. I'm not sure why but at least it is now called the rodeo grounds and not the video grounds. We will go this weekend and then look forward to another long wait.

April/May

So April just flew by. Easter was a lot of fun. We had my family around and it was fun to see the kids looking for eggs. Zack had about 6 egg or candy hunts. He had one at school then Saturday morning we went to the local Smiths and he did the candy hunt. Then we went to Thanksgiving point with my sister Shari and her kids. They did an egg hunt there. Then we stopped by my aunt Lynette's house and Zack got to do another one there with all of their family. Sunday morning the Easter bunny left eggs and goodies so Zack got to find all those eggs and then Grandma and Grandpa Gibson did an egg hunt for all the grandkids and then finally that night his cousin Bryanna came over and they did a little mini egg hunt. Zack loved every minute of it and I was exhausted by the end of the weekend.
Abby is growing and getting so big. We had our last home visit for the adoption finalization and they are excited for us to finalize. We will hopefully get into court to finalize the first part of July. The lawyer is working on getting us a date now. Abby likes to talk to everyone. She really likes to talk to the curtains. It is pretty cute. She is grabbing at everything and gives us big puppy dog eyes when we are eating. We will be heading to the doctor for her 4 month appointment next week. We are wondering how big she has gotten. I will post pictures soon.

March

It has been a busy month. We started out by celebrating a cousins birthday. We went to the Discovery Museum in Salt Lake. The kids had a great time. We got some great pictures. We also went rock climbing with Brad's sister and her family. It was fun to spend time with them. Abby is growing and getting bigger. She is now talking and smiling like crazy. Zack is signed up and ready for kindergarten. He went on a field trip to Cabella's that is one of his favorite places. Here are some pictures from the month.

Busy Busy

We have been home and getting used to life with two kids. Abby has been really good. She is a sweet baby. Zack loves her. Sometimes a little too much, I have to tell him to get out of her face and to leave her alone. He likes to pick her up and carry her around. Sometimes she is content and he thinks that is a good time to bug her. She is a pretty content little thing. So far we have all enjoyed her and are getting back to normal. This week we get to register Zack for Kindergarten, go visit the doctor and then Abby gets to have her two month check up. It should be a fun week.

We get to come home

Well we sent Brad's parent home early tonight. Their flight left at about 5 and we heard at 6 that we were cleared to go home. We missed our flight by one hour. Fortunately we had switched our flights. We will now leave tomorrow at 5. It will get us home at midnight and we are excited. Today we spent in the hotel. We did run to the local walmart to get some snack food to hold us over for a few days. I only got stuff that we can bring home with us. Zack in the process of the last week has gotten all the McDonalds chimpmunks toys. We had to get the last one today so that he could have the whole collection. This is the first time we have ever collected all the toys for one thing. I just tell myself that we were in unusual circumstances. Everyone of us is relieved to be heading home. This has been quite the adventure but we are ready to take Abby home and get the pictures posted that we have been taking. Zack wants to get back to school and Brad is ready to go back to work and school. I am ready to sleep in my own bed and not feel like I am in a small padded room. We have met some wonderful people and have lots of memories. We have gained our sanity back since Brad's parents left. I have come to realize that they needed to come with us so that they could experience the people here to better accept Abby into our family. They have been very skeptical throughout the process, but have learned to love her. Besides who couldn't love this precious spirit from our Heavenly Father.

Monday in Maryland

So we are still waiting to hear that we can leave. I don't think it will be tomorrow. I am anxious to get home and get back to normal life. We are sending Brad's parents home for sure but will stay till we are legal to leave. Abby is doing great. She sleeps for about 4 hours at a time and in the middle of the night it takes me about 10 to 15minutes to feed, change, and put her back to bed. She is a sweet little thing. I hope that when we get home the dream doesn't end. I am to practical for that. Zack and Brad went to DC today to the National Zoo. Some of the exhibits were closed because of the weather but they had a good time. They wore Zack out. He took a nap on the way back in. I'm glad they have done a few things. Well that is all for today. We will all be relieved to go home.

Maryland Adventure#2

So it is Sunday and we have spent the day in the hotel. Brad and Zack went to church. They didn't say much about it. I have read and relaxed. Zack and I have taken a trip to the exercise room and walked on the treadmill. Abby has done what all babies do eat and sleep. She likes to be awake in the morning, sleep in the afternoon, awake in the evening, and then sleep pretty well at night. I couldn't ask for anything better. She is pretty even tempered and it is a surprise. I wonder what will happen when we get home. It could be interesting. We are going to eat leftovers from last night and hopefully find something good on tv tonight. We will take our jaunt around the hotel and all that fun stuff. Pretty boring today,.

Our Maryland Adventure

It just dawned on me to be posting stuff on this blog so that everyone can see it and I can keep track of what is going on. I may not get it all in considering Abby is getting a little mad in the backpack thing. I should start with our day at the hospital. We got there at about 10:30 in the morning and met our beautiful little Abigail. We held her, fed her and changed her. Then they did the car seat test so that we could take her to the hotel. After the car seat test we had to wait for the birthmom to come and sign the release. We finally got home at about 7 that night. Thursday we had to go get a paper signed and notorized. So we went out looking for a notary. Found one in an old time hardware store. It was rather interesting. Came back and got the papers faxed. Now we are just waiting for the courts to process. Friday Zack and Dad went to the Port Discovery Park. They came home wet from being plumbers. They seemed to have a good time. Today they were going to go tot he Aquarium but Brad's friend who lives an hour away came to visit and didn't get here in time to go. Brad also tried to go to the DC temple but it was closed. It was kind of a wash day. Abby and I hung out at the hotel all of the days. She did go to the doctor yesterday and they said she is doing great and all is well. This morning the room above us sprung a leak that ended up in our bathroom. So we had to change rooms. I did this by myself with Zack and Abby in tow while Brad was going to the temple. Zack was a big help. He helped me put all of our stuff into the pack and play and then push it two doors down to our next room. Then he helped pull one of the two large suitcases down to the new room. Who says that you can't accomplish anything with a new born. It helps that she is so sweet. I will post pictures of everything when I get home. I will try to write a little everyday so you can stay updated.
