Surgery Funnies

So surgery itself is not funny but some of the things my kids have done are.  Let's begin with the day of surgery. We dropped the girls off at my sister's and Maggie was the happiest kid when we were leaving.  She was so excited to be a big girl like Abby and get to stay with Aunt Shari. Abby on the other hand sat on the couch and pouted because Maggie got to stay with  Aunt Shari. When Maggie went down for a nap Shari found Abby down doing a dance because Maggie could not interfere with her Shari time. After I got home and Brad had been to the pharmacy, Maggie took it upon herself to read all the info that came with the prescriptions. She took the papers, settled herself down next to me on the bed and proceeded to read.Well you all know how well 18month old's read but she looked super cute.  As the week has progressed the kids have tried to help so much.  It was funny watching Zack try to get the girls dressed. Abby running away from him laughing and him tackling her and sitting on her. I think he got a little frustrated.  My ultimate favorite help has been Abby.  I decided to take a bath and Abby wanted a bath too. So she sat in the bathroom crying as I got in.  Pretty soon she realized that maybe mom needed help. She found a cup and started filling it up and dumping it. So helpful, I know, it gets better. She even helped with the soap. Yep that is right, she soaped up my one arm really good. Brad finally came and got her but the whole thing struck me funny. A week ago if someone would have asked how I thought my kids would help, I never would have said my 2 yr old would help me bathe. She had a great time and I guess the way I give her a bath has not gone unnoticed. I just had to laugh the rest of the night because that is NOT something you come across everyday. So when I think of this surgery in years to come I will most likely not remember the pain, the hangover, or any of that stuff. I will remember how each of my kids tried to help and the laughter it brought.

Easter

Zack and Cousin waiting for the go signal.

We had a fun Easter.  The kids got more candy then they had at Halloween. We started by going to our local Smith's grocery store and gathering candy.

Abby was all about the candy but didn't want to work for it so she got cousin Shay to gather the candy while she held the bag.

Maggie's idea of gathering candy was to grad the first sucker she saw and start eating it while dad gathered the candy. She didn't get past the starting line.

After the grocery store the kids sat on the Easter bunnies lap.  Zack was smiling, Abby was not, and Maggie was screaming.  Those pictures were pretty funny.  I will have to scan them in.  Then we went home and did hair and colored eggs.

Then off to bed to await the big day.  We were up early and rearing to go.  Okay some were more happy than others.  Maggie crawled right in peeked in her basket and then hopped right on her new toy.  Zack enjoyed looking at his new bike and trying out the hula hoop.  Abby had to put on her helmet and sunglasses.  Then we hunted eggs.

Maggie's idea of hunting eggs. Find one with candy and eat.

Finally some pictures of the girl's Easter dresses.

Hair, Hair, Hair

I have been doing a lot of research for the girls hair. I mainly want their hair to be healthy and not to break off. So I am trying new products and new things to their hair. This was the beginning of our very long hair days.

This is the back once we were all done. She loves the beads and flipping her hair. Who knew long hair could be so exciting for a two year old
That is her cheesy smile with the new long hair from front. It took about 10 to 12 hours. We split it up over three days. With lots of potty breaks, several drinks of milk or juice, a bag of pepperoni, popsicles, and several angry bird band aids, we made it through. I have to say that Abby did well. She is so glad to have it over with and my feet agree as well as my fingers.
Maggie also had to have a go in the hair chair. I did some finger coils in her hair on the sides. They didn't stay in very long but it was cute. She isn't so sure about having to sit and let me touch her hair for more then 3 seconds but she will learn.

Elmo cupcakes were the choice this year.

Christmas

We had a good time this year. There were choir concerts, Santa Clause, lights, family, and lots of presents. Zack had two choir concerts this season. He is really enjoying the children's choir that he is in. Abby liked all the lights. She says lights with a southern accent. It was fun to hear her exclaim Lights every time she saw new lights. Maggie just took it all in.
Christmas morning was a delight. The kids loved what they got my favorite comment of the day was Zack's " THANK YOU SANTA CLAUSE" It was a classic. Here are some pictures of the kids through out the month.

Maggie's 1st Birthday

Maggie turned 1 on Nov. 18th. We had cake and opened presents. Abby really liked the toy we got for Maggie and wasn't real happy about sharing. Now that Maggie is one she likes to point at what she wants, she likes to bug Abby, and she likes to pick up whatever is on the floor and eat it. She doesn't think that she needs to take a nap or go to bed at night. She thinks she can do whatever Abby does. I'm afraid the fighting between the two girls is just beginning and we are in for it.
